How many books is too many to take on a cruise? I don't have a kindle, partly because I like the feel of a book and partly because you can pick up a second hand paperback for hardly anything (how cheap am I?!*)
So far I've gone for the second part of Neal Asher's excellent Owner trilogy and the second and final parts of James S A Corey's Expanse trilogy... But I feel like I should re-read the first parts of both, so I'll have 5 large sci-fi paperbacks with me on this 3 week cruise... I think I'm overestimating my reading ability (or underestimating how much time I'll want to sit around reading on my honeymoon!)!
So maybe I should leave something behind? I've started going through Leviathan Wakes again, so maybe it's the Owner books I should leave be? But... But... But... I WANT TO READ THEM TOO!**
Also, now that I am made an honest man (of?), I must think of my good lady wife too... Will she want me nose deep in a book at every opportunity? Of course not (Sometimes she'll want to use my body recreationally!***). Will she want to be nose deep in books herself? I would think so, occasionally. Will she read the same things as me? No chance. Will I read the same things as her? No - especially if I have 5 massive beasts of fiction to work through. Am I blowing this all out of proportion as my brain gets too excited by the prospect of 3 weeks off filled with sun, sea sand and se...-als? -raphim? -nse & -nsibility? - YES.
What do you suggest I read? Moby Dick? Around the World in Eighty Days? The wreck of the Mary Deare? Life of Pi? Robinson Crusoe? Lord of the Flies?!
Reading back on what I've just written, I see that this post was to work through some mental kinks about packing and announce to the world that I'm going slightly mad**** with excitement...
*Very. And I don't care
**Cheap and petulant. I can see why she married me...
***For a Pillow, or possibly as ballast if we find ourselves cast adrift...
****Yup, clearly I am a catch!*****
*****And I also like to use the same joke over and over again******
